The reason why I love this video you are about to see is that it captures what I’ve been preaching all over the years in the most beautiful and captivating way.
-Nilesh Jain said ,”5 mins after your birth, they decide your name, nationality, religion & sect & you spend rest of your life defending something you didn’t choose.” This song capturing this reality teaches me two important things.
- Not to Judge: People fall into situations and certain lifestyles not because they choose it but life chose it for them. Nobody would choose to suffer and be persecuted for being black, poor, or even gay if they had a choice. Some petty thieves that have been lynched wouldn’t have found themselves in such situations if they had rich parents. By virtue of no fault of ours, we end up in situations people do not understand but judge also by virtue of no fault of theirs, they find themselves in privileged situations.
- No hate: Kahil Gibran describes children as simply life longing for itself. We came into this world as beams of light belonging to nobody just longing for ourselves. When we realize that we have no name, we have no religion, we have no race, we have no gender, we have no sexual orientation, we have no HATE but one that was assigned to us at birth which could have been different depending on where our light fell, we will see people beyond how different they are from us. Only as beams of light being channeled by the medium in which they fell. So that you and I can say, I am you and you are me. We are all nothing but beams of light. What is there to hate if neither of us chose whom we are.
This is a beautiful song and I am so proud it came from a Ghanaian. It’s about time we invest our talents for the greater good of the world. The VOIICE foundation is still welcoming of you. Visit voiicecommunity.org to join. Enjoy the video
