Truth has been defined by the world to be the ideal way of life. “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” is a verse in the bible I learnt when I was about eight years old from school, not from church. Truth seems to be a cherished value everywhere in the world. It transcends beyond religious and cultural values into simply being the ideal way of life. Parents encourage their children to tell the truth at all times, counselors and pastors advice couples all the time on the importance of truth. In fact the notion is that every relationship can only flourish with truth. The world seems to be a place the embraces the truth but the truth is, we all hate the truth. You probably do not believe it because it is the truth; Gotcha! Allow me defend my point.
From the early stages of my life as a child being taught the importance of telling the truth at all times was the beginning of my realization of the world’s despicable attitude towards the very truth we speak of. Parents will sometimes cook up false truths; not to say they are lies because I couldn’t say they were lies as a child. Elderly people told blatant lies about an incident I witnessed myself but when I tried to tell the truth, I was scolded by the same people who taught me to tell the truth. They often said,” You cannot discredit the elderly.” In other words, I cannot simply tell the truth!
I don’t understand why a fat girl gets offended when she is told to get the larger seat in a class or a bus. Why do I get offended when I am told I have bad morning breath by my room mate? Why do you get hurt when your awful fashion sense is brought to your notice?. If you think you are slim, check the scale to find out if it is not the truth; oh! the mirror will definitely do the trick. If you think you have a perfume scented morning breath, smell it yourself and enjoy. If you believe you have an impeccable sense of fashion, you probably should go on a fashion competition; who knows, you may be first from the bottom.
Couples all over the world usually insists on the truth but the fact is they usually hate each other for telling the truth sometimes. Lets begin with the little basic truths marriages hate. Your wife is probably not speaking to you the whole day, she has been giving you fake smiles and cold hugs. You must have told her how bad her dress was when she tried it on seeking your opinion. Your husband probably told you to wear ear plugs when you told him he snores so loud.
Do you have any idea the number of wives who wish they never knew the truth about their husbands infidelity? Do you know the number of men who would die if they knew the truth about the sexual fantasies of their wives? Do you know how hateful and bitter couples would be if they found out their spouse’s TRUTH?
A very attractive woman divorces her husband who loves her when he tells her about his fantasies over thick and plump women. “I wish I never knew this”, she says. A perfect relationship is broken when a lady reveals her past history of relationships to her boyfriend.
Guys, one of the things you should never do is tell a girl truths on her appearance. No matter how ugly she might be. Never tell her of her promiscuity even if she keeps a whole gang of boys as boyfriends.
Girls , quit telling truths that threatens a man’s masculinity; his sex life, strength, financial status. No matter how horrible , weak and poor he is respectively.
However, if you want to be hated with the truth go against my advice
Well, if you want to be loved for the truth, learn to tell the truth the right way; without hurting others. Truthfulness is ideal no matter how difficult and bad it gets. If you cant tell the truth the right way you can always take my first advice; just don’t tell the truth!
Truth is like malaria syrup; It may be bitter to swallow but it will definitely cure the disease. Yes, we hate the truth but it will surely set us free.
